Under the Direction of the GYN Surgical Specialties Nurse Manager and guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, the Registered Nurse, provides care to non-complicated and complex GYN patients in the GYN Surgical Specialties practice and OB/GYN Mt. Zion Practice, Department of Women's Health. The Registered Nurse will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment.
In collaboration with the physician and nursing staff, the Registered Nurse has the clinical responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff, and for daily operations. The Registered Nurse is a team player who works closely with others and who is flexible in dealing with the changing priorities. The Registered Nurse is a self-reliant individual who synthesizes their knowledge of practice operations in order to problem-solve, prioritize and facilitate complex transactions in the course of their daily activities. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performing nursing telephone triage, responding to patients' questions via patient MyChart, reviewing laboratory results, administering medications, assisting MIGS surgeons and Urogynecologist during clinics, practicing advance assessment of patient medical and psycho-social needs, participating in patient education, and assisting medical providers in a variety of ways. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient's physiological and psychosocial developmental level and needs. This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations and can include, but not limited to being cross trained for other Women's Health Services.
The Registered Nurse has excellent oral and written communication skills; can work well with minimal supervision in a complex, fast pace and challenging environment. The Registered Nurse is sensitive to the needs of patients, staff, and providers at all times. This position makes a difference for patients in an outpatient care unit by providing excellent nursing care and customer service, facilitating and ensuring the accuracy of the information flow between medical, hospital staff and departments to maximize unit efficiency. The Registered Nurse consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor and shall comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. Required Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of recent nursing experience.
- A minimum of six months of Ambulatory nursing experience in Women's Health or Urology service line.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Excellent communication skills.
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Ambulatory fast paced OB/GYN or Urology setting.
License/Certification
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
