Job Summary

The Student Assistant supports the World Languages and Cultures department as a Spanish Tutor beginning Summer 2022.

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Georgia Southern University is a tobacco and smoke-free community. All faculty, staff, and students must adhere to the established University System of Georgia policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to students enrolled in Spanish courses
  • Assists with writing guidance, reading comprehension, and grammar review
  • Maintains tutoring attendance log; keeps attendance log via Google docs
  • Uses a computer to provide tutoring virtually
  • Uses EAB to create tutoring schedule and sign in kiosk
  • Keeps attendance log via Google docs
  • Attends tutor training sessions

Shift Specifics:

  • 10 - 15 hours per week.
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Shifts scheduled Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 6 PM
  • May have to work weekends
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education

  • Pursuing a degree in World Languages and Cultures and/or successful completion of SPAN 2002 (Intermediate Language II), or an equivalent course, with a grade of "B" or better.
Proposed Salary

$10.00 per hour
