Carter School Locally Led Peacemaking (LLP) Post-Doctoral Fellow
The Post-Doctoral Fellow is a key member of the
LLP research and practice team who is dedicated to managing and sustaining existing peacemaking praxis projects related to the Carter School
LLP mission. This will include project management tasks (such as designing and tracking research and peace practice agendas, budgets, maintaining local partnership communications and operations and supervising any research assistants and/or volunteers associated with the program) as well as execution of original quantitative and/or qualitative data collection, analysis, and report writing specifically related to the Carter School's work in South Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo and the subsequent countries and regions that will be engaged through the
LLP program.

Responsibilities:
Research, Data Analysis, and Writing
- Support the Director of the LLP in implementing all phases of LLP research projects;
- Oversee and implement global surveys and data collection efforts of key LLP stakeholders including partnering association members, actors, and donors;
- Analyze data from these efforts to identify actionable insights and develop materials such as publications, slide decks, and blog posts to communicate insights to both scholars and practitioners; and
- Identify and coordinate with program partners including local peacemaking practitioners and contracted outside organizations and consultants to jointly carry out research, and manage program activity, sustainability, and expansion.
Project Management
- Provide management and oversight of established funded peacemaking initiatives in coordination with the LLP Director;
- Manage relationships with research and practice partners;
- Supervise volunteers and research assistants;
- Manage administrative functions related to established projects; and
- Work with other organizations to develop and implement activities in connection with research initiatives.
Events & Communications
- Work with the Carter School's communications staff to promote research and results produced by the LLP to academic and practitioner communities;
- Organize research panels and other research-related activities at Carter School events; and
- Represent the Carter School at sector events.
Required Qualifications:
- Completed Ph.D. (majoring in Peace and Conflict Resolution, Development Economics, Political Science, International Relations, or similar) with no less than three years of field experience in research, practice or a combination in conflict-affected Sub-Saharan Africa (which must be elaborated upon in CV and interview);
- Proven ability to manage research assistants, consultants, and/or interns to execute research projects, providing oversight, direction, leadership, and support;
- Experience designing and implementing research projects and communicating findings to scholars and/or practitioners;
- Experience working with global teams, communicating reliably and effectively with remote partners, and managing time zone and language barriers;
- Experience working with peace practitioners is especially welcomed;
- Strong interest in the work and mission of the Carter School and the ability to represent the organization externally;
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience managing partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders; and
- Excellent communication, organizational and writing skills.
