The George Mason University, Facilities Department, invites applications for a Power Plant Operator position.

About the Position:

Under supervision of the Power Plant Operator Shift Supervisor, this person will oversee the operation of the Central Heating and Cooling Plant ( CHCP) and all satellite plants during the designated shift to ensure smooth operation and provide a service to the George Mason University community in their heating and cooling needs. This position will work at our Fairfax campus. The working schedule for this position will be Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00pm - 6:00am.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent;
  • Must be able to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations; and
  • Competency in Microsoft Office software including Excel to develop spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed Plant Operator or five (5) years working as Plant Operator;

  • HVAC, Chiller, and Boiler Training;
  • Low pressure and high-pressure boiler certification;
  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Plant Operation Certification; and
  • Five (5) years minimum experience in the operation of boilers, chillers and ancillary equipment.
