The Solar Product Specialist at Independent Electric is responsible for planning and executing the coordinated and profitable acquisition of renewable product lines for the mutual benefit of our customers and vendors. You will recognize companywide financial performance objectives for strategic profitable growth in the segment, as measured by customer service levels and gross margin return on investment. Key Responsibilities
- Create vendor purchase orders to fulfill inventory needs on stock items as well as non-stock items when needed for the sales force.
- Review and manage inventory levels using Eclipse and internal reporting software tools (ex. Power BI).
- Review and maintain purchasing parameters on items within Eclipse to provide proper service levels to our customers. Manage shortages or stockouts of necessary materials to service our customers.
- Follow standard operating procedures for returning inventory to vendors.
- Work with the product and pricing teams to ensure the product database has accurate pricing, costing, product descriptions, and vendor information.
- Expedite and track open-stock purchase orders for all.
- Make recommendations for major purchases of materials based on anticipated changes in pricing, unusual availability situations, and market conditions.
- Conduct ongoing evaluations through all company locations of assigned product basket, to identify and eliminate all non-performing product using inventory aging and auto RGA processes.
- Work with sales force to help resolve vendor procurement issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive business information.
- Understand the financial goals and the impact inventory has on them.
Required Skills
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Vocational school or associate degree preferred. Experience Required:
- 3 or more years in the solar industry and knowledge of module, inverter, racking, and BOS manufacturers
- 3 or more years in a purchasing environment, preferred.
- 1 or more years in procurement, including order points, line points, demand safety stock, excess, and deadstock, preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs in Excel is preferred.
- Must be able to work individually and manage time with minimal oversight.
- Able to communicate in a professional manner and work with all levels of professionals and departments (i.e.: transportation, executives, warehouse).
- Advanced knowledge of multitasking and organization skills.
- Ability to think creatively while under pressure.
- Valid Driver's License, Class C (Required)
